Wow! It sure has been awhile since my last post. Just as cassette tapes were replaced by CD's, and CD's to be replaced by MP3's, facebook and twitter are replacing the blog.

It is much easier to post a pic or comment on facebook then this old blog. Who actually visits anymore?

I've also been so busy, I don't have the time to sit back and just collect my thoughts and blog.

In my quest to save money and save the enviroment, I will be consolidating my servers. Expect downtime on this site.

Visit me on facebook :)

Holy crap, how time flies. I swear, it felt like it was just yesterday when I typed my blog entry about 2007. 2008 has come and gone. I have to admit, 2008 has been both absolutely frightening and wonderful.

I don't remember much about the start of the year, it went by pretty fast. I remember long, cold, dark runs, but not much else.

The summer was another story. After my trip to Miami, I think I went out every single day for then next 4 months. I refused to stay at home, no matter how tired or how many other things I had to do. I sure had a freaking blast. It was just a couple of months ago, but it feels like it was ages ago. I sometimes smile and think, was this summer really real? I did everything I possibly could. I made every single day a new adventure.
Thought I didn't get into the NYC marathon, I stuck true to my resolution and trained hard for the Philadelphia marathon. I completed it in 3 hours 32 minutes and 48 seconds. Amazing. Hell, I crushed every one of my personal records this year. I ran the Alley Pond 5M at a 6:53 pace, the Newport 10k at a 6:48 pace, the Hoboken 5k at a 6:24 pace, the Niagara Falls Half-Marathon in a stunning 7:17 pace, and lastly the Philly marathon at a 8:07 pace. I cut nearly 46 seconds per mile off my time. That's over 20 minutes!!!

Besides my adventures to Miami and Niagara Falls, I also visited Montreal. Great times were had.

Also, after nearly seven years at my job, I took a leap into the unknown and joined another group. I left all my friends, hell family, and started all over again.

Lastly, I turned 30 this year. I'm in another age group now!

Well, what does 2009 hold? Not sure. Again, I sometimes wonder if this year really happened. It sure was fantastic. Not sure if I can top it in 2009, but I sure am going to try. A trip to Cancun on January 3rd is a good way to start it though!

Happy New Year everyone!

Bah.

I just returned from the Nike 10k Human walk...err race. How do you fit 10,000 people over a small footbridge at once? Hey Nike, you can't!

It was a 5k course twice around. Unfortunately, a small footbridge and a sh*t load of people forced everyone to stop. I paid $35 bucks to run my little heart out and possibly set a personal record. Instead, I stopped at approximately mile 5.5 and walked. I mean really, walked across the footbridge. Large women in spandex confused by the men shouting "finishers to the right" blocked my path. Sorry if I ran over you, but you just didn't belong. It was a race...the Human Race. Not Human walk...

Anyhow, 3 beers later the All-American Rejects rocked the house and made me happy again.

To the dude in front of me that screamed vulgarities as his chance at a personal best were crushed by the very same women that forced me to stop...I feel your pain my friend.
Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone stands
Another day and you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold
Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
Move along
So a day when you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart that will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your
Hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold
Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong we move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong, we move along
Along, along, along
When all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
[x3]
(Move along)
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
Right back what is wrong
We move along

I won't be logging any miles today as, I can barely walk after dodgeball. im so freaking sore.

I was feeling fantastic and crushed my initial goal completing the Alley Pond Park 5 Mile challenge in 34:26 (6:53 per mile).

Feeling tired, sore, and generally miserable, I somehow woke up at 7am today to tackle the Newport 10k. I caught wind of my arch rival during the race. By repeating my mantras and fighting until the very end, I completed the race in a stunning 42:08 (6:46 per mile). I also saw the spiderman jumpsuit girl from my 5k but left her in the dust for this race.

I ran the Newport 10k race pace wise as fast as I ran my best 5k (half the distance) last year! Working on my form all winter has really paid off. I feel like superman!

I just hope the cooking classes I'm taking don't slow me down!

Do you bowl? Simple enough question. What are the possible answers? Being of sound and logical mind, I figured 1)Love it.
2)Hate it.

1 in 2. Not bad odds I guess.

Success! After a brutal two week, I have survived. Last week was riddled with plans and meeting preparing for a difficult weekend in support of a new release of our software. I worked for an ungodly amount of hours to ensure everything went smoothly as by random bad luck my weekend to cover landed on this release. Though the release was a great success, before we had a chance to celebrate, our primary database decided to crash causing a flurry of misery.

I haven't had a good nights sleep in almost two weeks. I plan to visit a nice resturant tonight and eat expensive foods and fill my belly with expensive wine. When I can no longer eat or drink, I will stumble into bed and sleep and sleep and sleep.

I wonder...

Sunday, April 13, 2008

Amazing! On Sunday, April 27 the Alley Pond Striders 5 M challenge will be held at Alley Pond Park. This will be my fourth time running this race. How time flies! For me, this race marks the beginning of spring and the running season.

I ran last year in 0:36:12.1 (7:14/mile). I'm a year older and a quick review shows I've been slacking in my workouts this month. Too much going out I suppose. I hope all the biking I've been doing will allow me to push the pace and beat my record.

My watch is disintegrating. Offically, I've logged nearly 4000 miles since May 2005 and wanted a quick picture to prove it.

On a more somber note, Belle passed away yesterday. She was 11 years old.
