Another day, another weekend. I ran the Totten Trot 5k at Fort Totten. I had a really great time. The weather was great. Fort Totten is a beautiful place, it was like a nice college campus. The course was hard, and it was windy. I focused on my pace, pulling off a 21:56 (7:05/M), which put me second in my age group (15/122). My splits were about 7:07, 6:28, 6:38. Not bad, but I still need to utilize my $300 Nike super watch a little better.
That being said, the after party was pretty cool. We went into the Bayside Historical Society and they served massive amounts of food and treats. I never saw so many cakes and cookies in one place. Never. I managed to stay away, but I did put some cream cheese on my bagel :)
The next race I'm thinking of is the Thanksgiving Day 10K Turkey Trot Run at Long Beach. Yes, I said 10k. It is a no frills race, which I'm not to happy about. Since I will be in NJ for Thanksgiving, I'm thinking of going to a Turkey Trot there.
