One word. Exhausted. I am chalking today up to simple overtraining and took the day off. Feeling pretty good now actually, though that may just be the beer talking. I just finished "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair, so I went to the bookstore today and picked up Runner's World Guide to Cross-Training. Hopefully, that will help.

Anyhow, still looking into the outdoor adventures. A buddy at work recommended a few places he has been to. While expensive, they sure look grand!

Long day today. Not sure why, but my dog was outside barking like crazy today at 4:30am. I woke up, let him in the house, and couldn't fall back to sleep. I was falling asleep in the train today, which I hate doing.

It was a little windy today, but boy has the temp been awesome. Two days before the first of December, and I was running in shorts! I also rocked my new sneakers today, the Nike Shox 2:40.

These things fit like a glove! They have no tongues which is a little strange, but so far so good!
I am planning to take two weeks of in February. What will I do? I would love to do something exotic. Imagine Rome or Scotland. Maybe something closer to home, like Alaska. Only problem is finding someone to go with. I don't know anyone who would be interested. Wandering Rome alone doesn't sound like too much fun.

Luckily, they do offer singles tours. This TrekAmerica thing is exactly what I'm talking about. While the age range is pretty big, 18-38, 10 days hiking/biking across states sounds like a wild ride.

Can you imagine?!?

Off today. Thank god. Off to the mall to get a new pair of sneakers. Currently suffering from a black toenail! Pretty cool. I need to post a pic of it. I was sorting some of the old pics, and found this. Hard to believe this was me!

I ate and drank more yesterday then I think, well, ever! I ate so much I couldn't even move. I wound up staying at my sisters house and driving into work in the morning. Cost me forty bucks, but it was well worth it.

Back to the race. If I had to do it again, I would have definitely been in the front of the pack. Also, I wish I enjoyed the sights a little more. All I did the whole race was stare at the back of the sap I was drafting off of the whole race :)

What's next? Not sure. I'm looking forward to going back to the trail runs at Forrest park. The leaves won't be around much longer. I was looking for a nice Christmas run.

While I haven't decided yet, I stumbled upon the Emerald Nuts Midnight Run at Central Park. Again, I haven't decided if I am going to go, but after last years (sorry guys) debacle this would be a nice alternative to a quiet New Year's at home. Looks pretty wacky.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I just returned from the Turkey Trot. It was okay. I was in the beautiful town of Garden City, unfortunately, I was too busy running to notice the scenery. There had to be at least 1000 people there! While it was pretty cold, after a short warm-up I was feeling fine.
The web site mentioned super advanced technology at this race, digital clocks at all mile markers, mats that recorded your time etc. Only mat I saw was at the finish line! At the start of the race everyone was asking around where the start race mat was. I laughed at the idiots that were running fast and hard, yet the race didn't even start! At the first turn I realized there was no mat! I turned my watch on .5 miles into the race, but it was too late. The clock at the first mile read 8:10, I was planning for no more then 7:30. I was buried in the pack. Ack. Good thing about having so many people at the race was the drafting. I drafted like a madman! Only during the last mile did I not draft, and that was because I got stuck between two groups. I was too scared to push, to scared to slow down.

I finished 162 with a time of 37:04 (7:26/M) which put me 35th in my age group.
I will comment more tomorrow, as all I can think about now is cold beer and food!

God, I hate the winter. Still suffering here. Cold after cold, injury after injury. I've narrowed the Thanksgiving races to either the The 2005 5M Turkey Trot @ Prospect Park or the Merrill Lynch 5M Turkey Trot. But man, am I in bad shape. I hurt myself bowling this Friday. My leg is hurting pretty bad. This is after I hurt my other leg last week during my 10M run. I messed up my finger fixing my sisters TV, and my feet are in bad shape, I really need new sneakers. I also feel like I'm catching a cold. Work has been brutal. The stress and lack of sleep are taking there toll.

I really want to run this race, to see where I have come from. My last 5M race was the Alley Pond Park 5M, the first race of the Grand Prix. Unfortunately, the forecast predicts rain/snow! It is still too early to say what I am going to do, but it isn't looking all that great...

FYI, You can pick up your patch at the Quantum Feet Running Store 188-13 Union Tpke, Fresh Meadows 718-454-3338.
Did you see the marathon? It was awesome! I was screaming at my TV for Meb! He only came in third, but the finish was awesome!

Ugh. After feeling lousy the past couple of days, I realized I have been pushing myself too hard. Too little, too late I caught a terrible cold. I am taking a couple of days off to let my body recover. Unfortunately, the weather has been absolutely beautiful. I'm going to go take Oscar for a walk, but what a waste.
I'm probably going to one of the next 3 races:
1)LONG BEACH 5K/10K TURKEY TROT THANKSGIVING DAY RUN
2)The 2005 5M Turkey Trot @ Prospect Park
3)Ashenfelter 8K Classic
