Grumble Grumble. I normally am just wrapping up a long hard 20 mile run after logging 22 miles during the week. Today, I sit on my couch wrapped in my blanket watching X-Play.

It's taper time!

I was looking forward to tapering, but again now that it is here, I'm miserable. I didn't sleep a wink last night. My body is angry. I am tired and I feel fat. I'm not allowed to cross train so that means no ab routine or weights.

On a very bad note, warm weather and heavy rains are expected for marathon Sunday. I was secretly dreaming of beautiful weather and millions of cheering fans. Now it is going to be like my long training run with Russ, pain, misery, and suffering.

Me:"Sure no problem. I make a right."

Me:"Awesome. Almost there! This should be great! PR baby!"

Cop:"You can't go this way! Follow the signs! Go the other way!"

Me:"Okay"

Five minutes later...

Me:"Sure no problem. I make a right."
Me:"Awesome. Almost there! This should be great! PR baby!"

Cop:"You can't go this way! Follow the signs! Go the other way!"

Me: "Oh crap."

I woke up bright and early today to run the Terri Roemer Paramus 10k Race today. I got to Paramus without much difficulty and was excited to race as my last official 10k was over a year ago.

Scores of people were driving in circles lost, because the signs all lead to this one road that was closed off. No other signage was posted advising of an alternative route. I asked another cop further down the road and she said to double back and make a left where the cop was sending everyone away. I asked a runner and she told me the same thing.

Runs are usually for some benefit, like cancer funding or the like. This one was for the Paramus Scholarship Fund. Most races aren't cheap, this one costing $25. Hell man, I'm doing all the work! The least they could have done was be kind to the people trying to find their way.
After the 6th course deviation and my 3rd run in with the cop, I pleaded with him no one knew where to go. He pulled out a cigar and said, "follow that car."

The red mini-van pulled over to a gas station 10 minutes later to ask for directions.

I took my $25 and went home. I will be hosting the first DaveGonzalez.net 10k race around JC October 21, 2007. No fee! Free shirt! Lunch and beer at my place after the race. There is only one condition:

Never run a race in Paramas!

I decided to take a minute out of my busy day for a quick afternoon blog entry. I feel compelled to blog though I have nothing new to say. Still no phone, still haven't decided what trip to book, and the marathon is about 3 weeks away.

I do have a terrible sore throat which I'm hoping goes away.

I actually had a lot to blog about yesterday after my last long run of 22 miles but technical difficulties prevented me from doing so.

It was freezing yesterday, my hands were numb for most of the run. I saw Jesus again as well as some leprechauns. Oh yeah, I even flew over Manhattan for awhile. It really is funny what running for 3 1/2 hours straight can do to the mind.

Anyhow, I feel good though I think I am catching a cold. *Sneeze*
And that's all I have to say about that.

Short people are good for one thing, being Santa's little helpers.

Again, some girl who must have been 4' 10'' tried to out kick me in the brutal Westchester half-marathon today. At least she wasn't wearing a spiderman jumpsuit! Just playing. Thanks to her I just didn't finish, I finished strong. She got my competitive juices flowing and helped me shave a few seconds off my finishing time.

The race was crazy. Rolling hills and temperatures reaching 80 degrees/54% hum with 12 mph winds. This is in stark contrast to the Staten Island half I did almost one year ago. It was Weather: 44 deg., 63% hum., wind 3 mph. I also got no sleep due to work and that lousy bed in my parents house.

I don't think I PR'ed, as my gun time was a minute slower from last year, but I look forward to seeing the results. Thanks again, little lady!

My goal is simple. I want an all in one device. I want to sit in the park and mindlessly surf the web for all sorts of new gadgets. I also want to read my countless e-books without having to print them out at work and carrying them in huge binders. How about making a quick phone call to work, or checking my email, or even being on aim all the time. Heck, maybe even find my way with a cool GPS feature.

I've been looking for that perfect device. I've so far considered the Verizon i760 (never coming out), the Iphone (not a windows device), Ipod Touch (without wifi what is the point), the Nokia N800 (same as touch), HTC Tilt, and well as countless other handheld devices.

Every morning I rush to http://www.pdaphone.com/ and http://www.tabletblog.com/ to find out the latest news. But I just can't do it anymore.

I think the Tilt is the way to go... Sorry JP.

After nearly 6 years, I have decided it was time for a domain name change. I originally bought http://www.blackoracles.com/ as I wanted to start a Quake III clan, but it never worked out. I'm tired of people asking me what the heck http://www.blackoracles.com/ is. So I purchased http://www.davegonzalez.net/. I will be transfering everything to this new domain.

http://www.blackoracles.com/ will be mine for another year, but afterwards...
